The former Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze is all set to meet with the officials from Italian club Bologna over the possibility of making a move to the Italian club. The Argentine defender is currently out of contract after it has emerged that the new Roma manager Zdenek Zeman is not interested in retaining the services of the former Real Madrid defender.
As a result, he is now free to discuss terms with the new club and it has reportedly emerged that Bologna have become the new favourite to secure his signature. Even though he is coming to the end of an excellent career, he is still set to be rewarded with a good contract by the Italian club.
Despite this, it is reported that the Argentine will have to take a pay cut of around 50% in order to join Bologna. The club can’t pay the current wages of the defender. It is estimated that they have the capability of paying only around € 650,000 per season. Despite this, it is expected that Gabriel Heinze will not delay the talks and will be looking to sign for his new club as soon as possible. The director general of the club Roberto Zanzi has said that they expect to reach an agreement with the player.
He has revealed that various club officials including himself will be holding talks with a player in order to convince him that a move to Bologna is the right decision at this stage. It is also thought that the defender would look at the possibility of returning to his home country especially given that the Argentine clubs are now in a better financial state than ever. The same applies for the Brazilian clubs as well. A number of Brazilian clubs are showing interest in the player.
