ROMA TURN DOWN UNITED STARLET

Italian club AS Roma have said that they have turned down the opportunity to sign Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison. Ravel Morrison is one of the highly rated youngsters at Manchester United, and he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Many regard him to be the best young talent to come out of the Manchester United youth team since Paul Scholes more than 15 years ago. Despite this incredible talent, it is thought that Manchester United are willing to let go of Ravel Morrison partly because of the huge wage demands posed by the youngster and also by the huge problems he creates off the pitch.

Even though he is one of the most highly rated talents, Italian club AS Roma have revealed that they have turned down the opportunity to sign him. The club is notorious for the incredible egos present within the squad, and it seems that they are not willing to add one more of such a character to the dressing room.

Ravel Morrison is thought to demand around £ 40,000 per week, whereas Manchester United are willing to offer only £ 12,000 per week. Due to the substantial difference between their terms, Sir Alex Ferguson has conceded that Ravel Morrison will leave the club at the end of the season.

“We were offered him, but said no. Why should we think we’d be able to handle him if Sir Alex Ferguson and United could not?” a Roma spokesman said in a recent interview given to British tabloid. Manchester City and Newcastle United are now the favourites to sign the youngster, who also has a lot of issues with the local police as well. He also is said to show no interest in training, but it seems that Mancini is very much interested in him.

Roma Need a Miracle

Daniele De Rossi has said that Roma need something of a miracle in order to get something out of the match against Juventus.

Roma have spent heavily in the summer, but their spending has not correlated with the results on the pitch. Even though they are only a few points away from getting into the Champions League qualification spot, the amount of spending and the football that has been delivered are largely different from each other. There will be taking on a Juventus side that has been in sensational form in the Italian Serie A this season. There has been a lot of talk that Juventus are well and truly back to where they belong.

Due to the fact that the European coefficients has reduced the number of qualifications from the Italian Serie A to just three, Roma need to finish in the top three in order to have any chance of getting into the group stages of the Champions League. Daniele De Rossi conceded that the chances of Roma finishing in such a lofty position do look weak at the moment. Roma have got only 17 points from the 13 matches they have played so far. There are likely to finish in the top three given the performances and the points that they have secured up until now.

“It would be a real miracle if Roma manage to finish in the top three and qualify for the Champions League. However, we will definitely try to achieve just that,” Daniele De Rossi was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport. There has also been a lot of pressure on the current Roma coach Luis Enrique, but the midfielder has said that every coach needs some time before they can actually make some difference to the team.

Heinze Regrets United Exit

Roma defender Gabriel Heinze has had an impressive career so far, having played at some of the World’s greatest football clubs, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any regrets.

Speaking to English newspaper The Guardian, Heinze was candid about his life and playing career, and said that he regretted how it all ended with Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United.

“I don’t have many regrets from my career, but that episode with Ferguson to be one of them. The problem is that I’m impulsive and strong-willed – it’s got me into trouble before, and probably will do again. Once I had decided I wanted to leave, it was only ever going to end one way.”

“I spent three years in Manchester and had some great moments. There are a lot of things I regret from the last months but I am a strong personality, Sir Alex is a strong personality. I took the decision and, looking back, I regret it because it meant leaving a great club and their supporters.

At the time Heinze was keen to move to Liverpool, but instead opted to move to Real Madrid instead – arguably swapping one European powerhouse for another.

“I hope fans will remember the three years I had in the team. I had a great time.”
