On June of the ongoing year, Gabriel Heinze was appointed as the coach of the Argentine club Godoy Cruz and even though it hasn’t even been a year since he has taken control of the team, he already is making drastic changes and one of these adjustments involved slashing down the amount of players in the main team which had 40 players.
Heinze opted to return 10 youngsters back into the youth academy as they made a move from the main team over to the reserves.

When it comes to the reinforcements that might arrive to the team, Heinze stated that before adding any new players to the team first he wants to get to actually know his squad and what they are capable of doing before searching around the transfer market for possible signings.

Taking charge of Godoy Cruz is the managerial role that Gabriel Heinze has done as the Argentinean football figure has never coached a club before. He does however, have experience with some of the biggest clubs in the world as he has performed with: Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Real Madrid and As.Roma just to name a few of his former clubs.

During the playing career of Gabriel Heinze he has had the privilege of playing alongside some of the greatest players in the world of football including: Lionel Messi, Francesco Totti and Paul Scholes. Heinze worked along with Messi when they both were with the Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys and Heinze believes that Messi will be spending the last few years of his career with the Argentine outfit.

Gabriel Heinze revealed his thoughts concerning Messi and what his last club will be as the former defender said: “Messi is going to retire at Newell’s, I have no doubt about it, I can’t see him in any other shirt in Argentina that isn’t Newell’s and that’s how I see him retiring.”

Lionel Messi has spent over 13 years performing for Barcelona where he has managed to lift just about every single major trophy in the world of football and Messi was believed to have never be interested in leaving Camp Nou but Gabriel Heinze has a different point of view.
