Heinze Accepts Blame

Valiant Gabriel Heinze has accepted that he was at fault for the Liverpool goal, but insists that Real Madrid have ever chance of beating Liverpool in the return leg.

Heinze told As: “I am responsible for the play during which Liverpool scored. We defended badly and the one (Benayoun) that we thought was the less likely to score claimed the winner.

“I have the belief that we will achieve a result (at Anfield) that will help us go through to the next round. The minimum we can do at Anfield is play with the same intensity and score at least one goal.

Heinze Hints at Retirement

Gabriel Heinze has hinted that he may retire from football after the 2010 World Cup – but only if Argentina win!

He told Radio del Plata “If in 2010 God enlightens me, maybe I will give up everything because this (winning the World Cup) is the biggest wish I have in my life.

“What else I could wish if the World Cup is the biggest a footballer can ask for?”
